Mission Statement

The Washingtonville Housing Alliance, a locally sponsored not-for-profit corporation, seeks to preserve and enhance the quality of life in the Village of Mamaroneck and the surrounding area.

The Alliance constructs new housing and improves existing housing for low and moderate income residents and undertakes other supportive activities designed to sustain communities that are culturally diverse, multi-generational, and of mixed income.

History

The Washingtonville Housing Alliance was formed in 1980 to improve the housing conditions of low and moderate-income residents in the Mamaroneck area. Since inception, WHA has:

  • Constructed or rehabilitated 115 apartments including 75 units of housing for seniors and 10 new units placed in service May 2007.
  • Developed 14 homes for first time buyers.
  • Offered a variety of other services to assist residents with various housing problems, from tenant issues to low-cost home repairs for seniors.
  • In 2014, the Washingtonville Housing Alliance formed a strategic alliance with Westhab, Inc. to enhance our housing portfolio and increase services to the Mamaroneck community. To learn more about Westhab, please visit www.westhab.org.
Leveraged
  • We have leveraged $14.1 million in construction from the County for multifamily building rehab and urgent home improvement.
Taxes:
  • Generated over $200,000 in new taxes annually for the municipality through newly constructed and rehabilitated units.
